About Madrasah

Madrasah Islamiyah, part of Mount Pleasant Islamic Trust, Batley, has been serving the local Muslim community since the 1960s, providing generations of children with authentic Islamic education rooted in the Qur’an and the Sunnah. For decades, the Madrasah has remained committed to nurturing young Muslims with sound Islamic knowledge, strong faith, and exemplary character.

In 2000, this legacy entered a new chapter with the opening of its purpose-built premises, recognised as the first purpose-built Madrasah building in Europe. The new facility reflected the community’s vision of creating an environment dedicated to excellence in Islamic education, providing students with modern learning spaces while preserving the rich tradition of Islamic scholarship.

Over the years, hundreds of children have benefited from our educational programmes, where the light of the Qur’an and the noble teachings of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ have been instilled in their hearts. Our aim is to provide a nurturing and inspiring learning environment that strengthens every child’s relationship with Allah, fosters a love for Islam, and prepares them to become confident, responsible, and compassionate members of society.

At Madrasah Islamiyah, we continually strive to achieve the highest standards in every aspect of teaching and learning. Through regular assessment, reflection, and professional development, we remain committed to delivering an outstanding educational experience that meets the needs of each generation.

Recognising the changing challenges faced by young Muslims today, we identified the need for a bespoke curriculum that presents Islamic knowledge in a structured, engaging, and age-appropriate manner. Our curriculum has been carefully developed using language and teaching methods suited to the academic level of our students, making learning both accessible and meaningful.

In an age of increasing distractions and rapidly changing social challenges, it is more important than ever to provide children with a curriculum that nurtures their intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual development. Our goal is to equip every student with a firm foundation of Islamic knowledge, strengthen their Īmān (faith), develop excellent character, and inspire them to strive for Iḥsān (excellence) in every aspect of their lives.

This curriculum represents the result of extensive research, consultation, and careful planning. It reflects our ongoing commitment to continually improving the quality of Islamic education for future generations while remaining faithful to the timeless teachings of Islam.
