The Five-Part Lesson Structure
A key feature of the Islamiyah Series is the consistent five-part lesson structure.
Research in education shows that students learn more effectively when lessons have clear objectives, opportunities to connect previous knowledge with new information, and activities that reinforce understanding.
Every lesson therefore follows a carefully planned structure.
1. Learning Objectives – "What am I Learning?"
Each lesson begins by clearly identifying the intended learning outcomes.
This allows:
- Students to understand what they are expected to learn.
- Teachers to maintain focus during delivery.
- Parents to understand what their child is studying.
Clear objectives ensure that every lesson has a defined purpose.
2. Starter Activity
Each lesson begins with a starter activity designed to engage students and activate prior knowledge.
This allows teachers to:
- Assess what students already know.
- Create curiosity.
- Connect previous learning with the new topic.
3. Key Vocabulary
Important Islamic terminology is highlighted throughout the lessons.
Each key word is clearly explained, with definitions provided in the glossary.
This ensures students develop confidence with Islamic terminology and helps standardise understanding across classrooms.
4. Main Lesson Content
Unlike resources that provide only brief notes, the Islamiyah Series provides detailed explanations, examples and guidance.
Every concept is explained thoroughly so that teachers have sufficient material to deliver the lesson effectively.
This also allows teachers who may not have extensive specialist knowledge in every area to confidently teach the lesson while maintaining accuracy.
5. Activities and Review
Every lesson concludes with activities designed to consolidate learning.
Activities are colour-coded according to difficulty level, allowing teachers to challenge students according to their individual abilities.
